I don’t even know if the people from Maine are called Maineites, but if they are, one of the most famous of them is Stephen King, Horror-Writer-In-Chief. Personally, I would not touch a Stephen King novel with a red hot poker, but that’s because I am extremely squeamish about horror stories and horror films. They SCARE me!
However, all those who are less lily-livered than I am and who’ve actually read Stephen King say he’s very good, so you might want to check him out. Many of his stories take place in Maine (you can see why, it’s kind of a scary place) and he’s kindly provided a map that includes both real and fictional towns.
Clicking this map takes you to the amazing Strange Maps blog on which the blogger collects the weirdest and most interesting maps there are. It’s a treasure house for people who love reading maps.
(I like maps. They don’t rise dripping from a lagoon, lay their cold, semi-decomposed fingers on your neck or come running after you with a hatchet while you are wearing nothing your flimsiest nightgown.)
Watch out for tonight’s new entry on neverenoughhomework to find out all about the winner of the seagull challenge!
