“Your iPod appears to have died.”

That’s what the guy in the shop told me recently. It wasn’t all bad news, however, because it meant I could justify getting a new one, being an English teacher who has to stay in touch with what’s going on. Right? Riight?? Anyhow, ever since I got it, I’ve been delving into the podcasts that are available on the internet and loading my neat little new iPod with them. One that I thought was quite worthwhile, if fairly basic, is the BBC’s How to… Podcast.

Here, you can listen to programmes on how to give someone bad news, disagree or complain. Skills you might need once the test comes along! You will probably say that you already know all these things – but can you also rattle them off without having to think about them? If you’re trying to improve your spoken English, adding language chunks like these is an excellent idea.
